This weekend-body-cleanse (or 1-day-cleanse) is a system I follow from the book One Body, One Life by Gregory Joujon-Roche and Cameron Stauth.
This weekend cleanse will make you feel better and detoxify your body, allowing your cells to better eliminate toxins, thus leading to a more healthy looking skin!
As with any restricted diet/detox/cleanse you must consult with your doctor prior to doing this!!
Here's how you do the weekend cleanse:
In the morning prepare two home-made nutritional drinks. The purpose of these drinks is to stimulate the function of your liver and kidneys which are your body's two primary organs of detoxification.
The Master Cleanse
Juice of 1 lemon
32 ounces of spring water
1 1/2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
1 pinch ground clove, or 1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
~ Blend the ingredients for 20-40 seconds. If desired, you may strain it.
Then you prepare the liver flush.
The Liver Flush
1 peeled lemon
1 peeled orange
1 ounce olive oil
3 sprigs parsley
1 1" piece of fresh ginger root
1 pinch of: ginger, cayenne, pepper, and ground glove
~ Blend lemon, orange, parsley, and ginger with one cup spring water. Strain the pulp, return liquid to blender, add remaining ingredients. Blend again.
When both drinks are prepared:
* Drink the entire liver flush.
* Then drink 8 ounces of the Master Cleanse.
* Take 1,000 mg of vitamin C.
* Take 100 mg of magnesium.
This is your breakfast. Sip the rest of the Master Cleanse throughout the day.
Mid-morning Snack: 5-10 raw almonds, and half an apple or pear.
Thirty minutes before lunch: Drink 8 ounces of fresh juice prepared with a juicer-- at least 80% of it should be vegetable juice and 20% should be fruit juice. Take another 1,000 mg of vitamin C and 100 mg of magnesium.
Lunch: Have a big vegetable salad, with dark greens only-- no red peppers or tomatoes-- and 4 ounces of fish or chicken. For dressing, combine lemon juice and olive oil (or diluted sesame tahini or hummus).
Afternoon snack: The same as mid-morning snack or you can have1 cup sliced carrots, cucumbers or celery with the 5-10 raw almonds.
Thirty minutes before dinner: Drink 8 more ounces of juice-- 80% vegetable and 20% fruit. Take one more 1,000 mg of vitamin C and 100 mg of magnesium. If you normally take a multivitamin, take it now.
Dinner: Eat another big vegetable salad, with dark greens only. No red peppers or tomatoes. Use the same salad dressing that you had at lunch. If you're still hungry, prepare another fresh juice, and have 5-10 more almonds.
That's it! I would recommend trying this for one day only to see how you do with this, then you can try it for a weekend. Always consult with your doctor prior to starting a detox diet like this!
