SKIN TIP TUESDAY: If your doctor recommends antibiotics for your acne try this tip...
Like many skin care therapist's I'm not a big fan of using antibiotics to cure acne. I believe acne is more of a hormonal imbalance issue which can cause the body to produce more oil in the skin. The over abundance of oil gets trapped under the skin because the skin isn't naturally turning over quick enough, thus the oil gets stuck in dead skin cells.
Antibiotics may or may not help acne in the short term, but doctors do still recommend antibiotics for acne.
My advice to those who are thinking about taking antibiotics for acne is to first build up the body with probiotics for at least four to six weeks prior to going on any antibiotic therapy treatment. I also suggest staying on probiotics during antibiotic treatment and continuing probiotic supplementation for life.
A really good probiotic which can be purchased at your local drug store is Florastor. Go here to read all about the benefits of probiotics.

Thanks for the insight!
You're welcome. I hope it helps. Probiotics are really so important for everyone, but especially important if one is considering antibiotic treatment. It's important to start probiotics prior to antibiotics to build up the good bacteria in the body. BTW, I should mention that Epicuren Discovery skin care has an excellent probiotic mask that you mix with spring water or aloe. It's great for acne or even acne prone skin. xoLori
