3 E-A-S-Y TIPS for Dry Skin:

It's that Dry-Skin-Time-Of-Year again. If your skin looks and feels like its screaming for hydration and moisture, follow these simple tips:

Tip #1: Stay calm and moisture on.

Many of us need to switch up our skin care regime and add a heavier moisturizer at night. Also, adding an extra layer of moisture infused with hyaluronic acid underneath our morning sun protection lotion can go a long way in helping to protect our skins natural barrier function to protect against the dry, cold and windy climate of winter.

Tip #2: Get a peel and help it heal.

Moisturizers are only temporary solutions to dry skin. They will protect the skin, but unless your skin cells are turning over at a normal rate, you need to get a bi-monthly or monthly professional peel to shed the dead layers of skin so your moisturizer can work into the skin.

After a light skin peel you may want to help the skin heal by using products which contain epidermal growth factors-- a must have for me in the winter!

Tip #3: Winter-Water-Land.

Seal in moisture on your skin (face and body) by applying your moisturizer to slightly damp skin. I like to use a hydration spritz by Epicuren Discovery, but if your into DIY use a generic metal spritzer (found at beauty supply stores, the container store, etc.) and fill it with natural spring water or club soda. Spray the mist all over your face and body to help rinse of all the metals and chemicals from tap water that could be potentially irritating your dry skin. Layer on the moisture!

For severely sensitive skin that burns, or gets red easily use an occlusive type of sealer like Rhonda Allison's Pro Salve or Aquaphor healing ointment. (If you're allergic to Lanolin or don't like to use animal based products, know that Aquaphor contains Lanolin which comes from sheep).
